Naomi did a quick search of weekend flights on a Friday morning and we booked our quick weekend getaway to Guadalajara that afternoon. Our flight was around $80 RT, but we had to fly out of Tijuana, which was surprisingly easy. We used the CBX terminal located at the San Diego/Mexico border. We arrived two hours early, parked in a long term lot ($17/day), and walked across the border directly into the Tijuana Airport. Easy peazy!
Once we arrived, we requested an Uber and were on our way to our Airbnb, which was located in the Americana neighborhood. It took about 30 minutes to get there from the airport and the total cost of the ride was around $5 USD. Our Airbnb total was ~$40 USD a night.
We spent the rest of the weekend just wondering around and exploring. Totally plan-less and stress free.
This entire trip was awesome. I got to see what Guadalajara was actually like. Before this, I imagined Guadalajara to be a sleepy town in the middle of no where that would get tumbleweed visitors every now and again, but instead, I found a lively town rich in culture and art. I left Guadalajara full in stomach, full in spirits, and enlightened. Oh, it also helped that I left with a full wallet as well. Total for the this weekend trip $~170 USD, including Uber rides and food! Here are some photos from the weekend. Hopefully it'll convince you to at least consider Guadalajara as a trip!
